What is a Workflow Diagram?
A workflow diagram is another flowchart that provides a graphic overview of a business process. While it is similar to a process flowchart in showing the steps of a process, it also includes roles or people and their responsibilities in the process.
Imagine if you and your friends were trying to organize a school event. A workflow diagram would show all the tasks that need to be done, like "Decide on the theme", "Prepare the decorations", "Invite the guests", and so on. But it would also show who is responsible for each task. For example, you might be responsible for deciding the theme. At the same time, one friend prepares the decorations, and another invites the guests.
In a workflow diagram, tasks or actions are often represented by rectangles, and different people or roles might be defined by different columns or 'lanes' in the chart. Arrows show the workflow from one task or person to the next.
These diagrams help teams understand who needs to do what and in what order, to successfully complete a process. This can be very helpful in businesses to make sure everyone understands their responsibilities and how their work connects to others.
